Grungy Monday #15

GM 15 wow what fun. This week our guest designer examples and instructions at Studio L3 show the use of Tim Holtz' rusted enamel, as seen in his blog - 2008 tag. I love this technique, so I combined it with another love, travel, oh yeah! I used broken china and walnut DI. I got to put ink on some of my new Tim stamps and used several bits of ideology to round it out. For me it's fun because the old plane reminds me of times when we used to dress up to fly and owning one of the coveted "Pan Am" vinyl carry-on bags... are you with me? Grungy Monday #14

Grungy Monday at Linda's Studio L3 and All Things Tim, using Tim Holtz technique from 2008. I whipped out my white dabber, distress inks, perfect pearls and misters and started my concoction. I used fired brick and was surprised when it turned out kindof brownish, so I went back in with some ink on top of the spray. I used the dress form stamps and sizzix die, which I love. I keep coming back to the jalopy and dress form. I styled a dress on the mannequin, it's a runway design 'in process'. Hope you enjoy it on this 4th of July!

Grungy Monday #11 Faux Batik

Faux batik is fun. It's one of those techniques that I forget about, but I always like in the end. Even though it involves ironing. Besides Tim Holtz' techniques I used many of his delightful products, along with victorian velvet, milled lavender and walnut DI's. Since I was ironing anyway, I also used the crumple, ink the wrinkles method that I learned directly from Tim years ago when I got to take a class from him. Grungy Monday #10 Distress Ink

I made this beauty using distress inks combined with Distress embossing, in my attempt to play along with this weeks Grungy challenge over at Studio L3. I used Master Holtz' Sizzix gears, Generations stamps, Concord Grape, Shabby Shutters and Forest Moss inks and Walnut embossing powder along with a technique from his Compendium. Grungy Monday #9 Shabby Chic

Loveable you! Some how shabby chic makes me think of romantic decor made of found items from the flea market. So that's what I went for on my tag this week. I used pink acrylic paint and weathered wood DI, along with the ever popular dress form die cut. This was my first experience with t!m's trimmings, which I colored with some more weathered wood. I also pulled out the pearls to dress her up a bit, and of course the requisite scrollwork in the background. Grungy Monday #7 Color Blocking

Toole on over to Linda's Studio L3 and checkout the gorgeous color blocking example for this weeks Grungy Monday's challenge. I color blocked a roadway, green scape and sky for my jalopy to cruse along. I'm not sure if this follows Tim's directions, but there really are no rules right? I guess I'm thinking of a road trip we have planned and the beautiful scenery we will see along the way, so this saying hits the spot for me today. Enjoy the journey!

Grungy Monday #6 Wood-grain and Ma Kettle's romantic advice

On this last day of Grungy Monday I have managed to get a woodgrain background incorporated into a romantic theme? Well, that is if you see Ma Kettle as a romance advisor.... she says, "True love stories never have endings" and she definitely fits with wood-grain. Since Ididn't have the dabber color Tim demo'd, I reconstituted my Eggplant dabber and combined it with Milled Lavender and Walnut DI's, along with some Holtzian embellishments. I really liked this picture from the cover of a local magazine, representing strong women from history, for Mother's day, (expect to see more of these ladies in my projects).
