Life book house of dreams

This is a Life Book 2012 assignment, which was to draw a house, add your dreams to the back and then tear it up. Well, I got jazzed about drawing the house, it's much more my speed than faces, although I will keep working on them.  I was hoping to create a Victorian feel in the colors of the house by using the dream words to delineate the different parts of the house.  As usual, I struggled with the emotional part of the lesson, but continue to get so much out of it, each stubble is worth it.

Lifebook paint over collage

Lifebook 2012 paint ove collage was another interesting and challenging lesson.  I hope by the end of the year I am able to draw a face, body and  hands.  Also, the painting has been a challenge, I'm not surprised since I have zero painting experience, but somehow I didn't think it would be that hard.  I might like the sketch, but once I paint it in, I am much less happy. Oh well, that's what this is all about. Not to mention the journey of self discovery. Ir's a lot easier to post my mediocre art then that part.

challenge - flowers

This is a card for my local stamping group, the subject was flowers, I took it quite literally. I focused around coordinating papers and made grunge flowers, added the bird and cage and stamped the saying. This is one of the first cards I've made in a while and it didn't come as easy as it once did.

Recycled Birthday card

I like to use junk mail as the foundation for cards. This was a credit card application that came in a box, like a fabulous invitation.  I covered it with steampunk papers and embellishments for a birthday card I hope my friend likes.

Lifebook page 1

Ok here she is, quite a challenge. I have no experience with faces, watercolors and the expression of superpowers was a whole other aspect.  Anyway the idea was to try the challenge and I'm sure grow from it after the cringing subsides, ; ).  There are many very talented examples, if you'd like to see the pros, select the blink on my page.

12 tags of Christmas - 5

Tim Holtz's tag 5 was made of this great acrylic material with a reversed embossing, it was very cool. As with many of his tags this year he's using things I don't have so I am doing my best to achieve the overall appearance none the less. I used white embossing on the stamped images and every color of red distress ink I had for the background. It did come out interesting, but I my have to get some of the acrylic to play with!

Tag 9 uses Tim Holtz's grunged enamel technique. I really like the festive greenery from the die cut too, it real adds a holiday feel. I didn't have the Halloween die that Tim used so I went with the ornament in a metallic silver paper.
