Week 23 art class abstract

    

Week 23 of Donna Downey's online art class. We're hitting the abstracts a lot, and this is a new topic for me. I'm not sure I embrace the whole abstract thing, but I'm certainly trying.  I filled the white space with white doodles, as you see in the second picture.... As the lesson instructed to drip the colors and drop black paint around, I avoided that part, as I struggle to embrace that too.  Oh well, I will continue forward and maybe someday I will be able to let go enough to drip and drizzle!

Week 22 of Donna Downey's online art class has us working through abstracts again.  It's an interesting process, but much more difficult than it seems, at least for me.

For whatever reason I immediately knew I wanted to do this old phone. That was as far as the idea took me for week or so. Then it finally came to me and I finished it off with the lovely gal and the old style telephone number. This was really my husbands phone number growing up, so he got a kick out of it. Week 21 crinkly abstract chick

This week was many layers of book text, gesso and layers of heavy body acrylic applied with a pallet knife. Again, nothing I would normally do, but interesting anyway. I'm trying to ignore the drive to catch up, since I'm behind, but I know that's not the right way to go about this, so I'll try to chill and enjoy the journey a bit more.

Week 20 More posies from My online Donna Downey class

More posies and finger painting, kind of decided I don't think this is so much my thing.  I'm a bit more straight lines, perspective than I am abstract and loose. But, that is why this class is great for me. I am exploring and abundance of new techniques and media, so rock on sister!

Week 19 Donna Downey's art class

Yes, I'm a scoosh behind, but you know life happens.  This was done with black gesso, very interesting stuff. The rest is collage bits, doodling and washi. I am realizing that I find refuge in art when life gets complicated and it helps ground me.

DD Week 18 dedication to Tiger

Week 18 at Donna Downey's online art class. There are several layers and a lot of texture on this that is hard to appreciate in the photos. There are Krink paints and markers, stencils, glazing, drips, and a whole collage on the initial layers, and I wrote a dedication to my sweet Tiger, who recently passed away.
I once again followed the art and strayed a bit from Donna's end result, but that's what she tells us to do. I think I can say I really like this one, which for some reason is usually hard to say. But I do, I really do... And I'm going to learn to be comfortable with that, so there.
