Simon Says Stamp "Yester-Year"

Simon Says Stamp challenge is to show something from "yester-year". I love the Graphics 45 Steampunk paper, so I used it as my focus. I used the gears embossing folder from Cuddlebug, which I sanded to highlight on the white core avocado paper. Along with that I used a Making Memories frame on a Graphics 45 Steampunk gear-head lady and added another cut-out. I backed some Tim Holtz gears in purple and mounted it all to a layer of pumpkin and mounted it to the purple. I also used a Martha Stewart edge punch along the side. Most definitely yester-year, and I would know having experienced it first hand ; )

Grungy Christmas?

Another Christmas has come and gone. It's shocking how fast a year passes. Since I'm not much of a shopper I spent hours this afternoon in my stamp room (/guest room). I die cut a lot of tags from Tim's sizzix tag die. I am anxious to try the tags cut from the pendex file folders I dug out of the trash at work, one man's trash.... Anyway, back to the tag. It's hard to tell from this picture that I used victorian velvet and bundled sage along with vintage photo for CCC 25. It actually has much more color than you see here. It was another fun project and it may be my last Christmas theme for the year! See a bunch of great tags at both Stamp Man challenge #12 and CCC#25 Scribble Stain Distress Studio L3.

Alter It Monthly: Don't slide

Alter it monthly has a "Careful not slide it's winter" challenge. I've painted my slide mailer, stamped it and added some ephemera, it's simple, but I really like it. I'd like to do some seasonal and holiday versions of the same thing.

Artistic Stamper Tags of Christmas

Here you have it number 12 from the Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas. This is quite a departure from the original. I think that it might go better for the Artistic Stamper Christmas tag challenge. There a lot of really nice tags there, check them out: Artistic Stamper.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #11

Hum, this may be my least favorite replica I did of the 12. I had a vision, but it may not have come out as imagined. And I had a hard time since I didn't have the tree die cut. So, I was really winging it with the snowflakes.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #10

I really like this tag, I posted on Tim's site that it was my favorite, but I'm not really sure I have just one... Anyway, the snowman is so cute holding his hat on and his scarf blowing in the wind.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #9

This is so pretty and vintage looking, I just love Tim's style. I got to use my rosette for the first time on this, is was easy and adds a nice detail, I will definitely be using it again.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #8

So I had to substitute the extreme masking for stamping because I don't have the masks. All in all I like how it came out though. But I will re-try when my masks from Santa arrive!

Twelve Tags of Christmas #7

I didn't have any of the nifty canvas that Tim used but I did have some twill patches, I think they worked ok. Maybe the canvas is stiffer so you can get more dimension out of it. I like the unexpected combination of the wood and glitter. The tag has a lot of interesting details.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #6

Tag 6, fun but really challenging for me. I had to wing it on the trees, didn't have that beautiful embossing plate. It evolved from there. It might look more like a dirty Christmas than frosty but you now how it goes....

CCC#24 Rock Candy Distress

Collage; check, smear stickles over the collage; check. I stamped travel words in burlap over the collage, but it's a bit hard to make out. It was iffy during the process, but it actually came out better than expected and than it photos. Oh well, quick, easy and another fun one! Check them all out at Studio L3 and All Things Tim.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #5

I really enjoyed the enameled pieces in this tag. I thought that the relief effect of the white dabber around the edges was also a nice touch. And I'm always surprised how much a little stickles adds to it. I might need to try some sparkly fluff someday though.

twelve Tags of Christmas #4

Tag 4 should have been a quicky, but I didn't have any of the paper, so I ended up attempting to make my own version. Then for the bling flourish I had a black version. I decided to cover the tops of the black with the white enamel, they look sort of pearl like. I also don't have and of the glass gems to make the snowflake charm. I tried a fragment but the ink didn't cooperate with the acrylic, so I switched out for the red gem.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #3

My first tissue tape flower, I had to redo it twice. Luckily the tape is easy enough to rework. I would like to try the dyeable trims too, a ruffle would be great along the bottom edge.

Twelve Tags of Christmas #2

Third times a charm with Tag 2 and the cut n dry custom stamp pad. I had big colored blobs because I was pressing to hard. Then I didn't have T!m's bird charm or the Happy Holidays stamp and I was stumped for awhile. Eventually it all came together....

Twelve Tags of Christmas #1

Oh.... to Grandma's house we go.... I had a great time making this tag. I didn't have a 'tree', I tried a couple of different versions and I finally decided on the bent up, painted hanger 'tree'.
